Best Marketing Podcasts to Listen to while you’re stuck at home
By Felicia Guthrie
We’re all spending more time at home than ever with the current social distancing measures. While you might have grand plans to get a lot accomplished, now is also a great time to learn something new or brush up on your knowledge. Many of the top marketing apps cover online or social media marketing. This comes as no surprise, as people are spending more and more time online. As consumer behavior changes, so does the marketing industry and trends. Today, we’ll be featuring a few go-to online and social media marketing podcasts to listen to while you are stuck at home! These podcasts will be ideal for everyone from marketing students, to marketing professionals, and entrepreneurs and small business owners.
Unfamiliar with podcasts? A podcast is a series of audio episodes that feature discussions and interviews on a variety of topics from true crime, to humour, relaxation, marketing, and more. You can listen to them on the Apple or Google Podcast apps, Spotify, or elsewhere. What’s great about podcasts is that there’s a variety of topics and you can listen to them whenever you want, like while you’re cleaning up, cooking, or commuting.
Let’s dig into a few marketing podcasts that you should listen to.
BUFFER- THE SCIENCE OF SOCIAL MEDIA
This series has a lot of episodes, as I write this there are over 160 episodes that cover everything from social media management, to ads, design tips, and seriously so much more!
Each episode is under 30 minutes, typically around 15 minutes, give or take, which means they’re super easy to consume and straight to the point!
If you’re a marketing student or professional, this series might cover a lot of things that you may already know, such as tools to use to make the best of your social media presence, like Canva or Unfold, but there are still valuable tidbits that might surprise you.
If you’re a small business owner or entrepreneur who is managing your own social media accounts, get to know the basics and learn how to make the most of your resources, knowledge, and time. This podcast packs a ton of tips and tricks into easy to digest and understandable content, into a short amount of time, and we know time is important to you.
Tip: If you’re just starting your journey in the marketing field, or if you’re a small business owner or entrepreneur who’s managing your own marketing and social media, here are a few episodes that could be of great value to you:

15 Hidden Instagram Marketing Hacks That You Can Try Today

Best Instagram Apps for Marketers: The Rise of the Single-Job, Standalone App
The above episodes say “Instagram” but also contain apps, programs, and tips that you can apply to your other social platform accounts!
SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING PODCAST-MICHAEL STELZNER
Michael Stelzner hosts this weekly podcast that covers a range of social media topics, such as growing your followers and business, to words that sell, video marketing, TikTok, and so much more. This is another podcast series that has a lot of content, there are currently nearly 400 episodes, which typically run around 45 minutes long.
What I love about this podcast is that host Michael Stelzner interviews industry professionals, so rather than getting the expertise and opinion of one or two of the same hosts every episode, you get to listen to someone who has excelled or has expertise in something specific. One guest who has been featured in the podcast, for example, is marketing professor and author Jonah Berger. In my opinion, because this podcast continuously features different guests, the content feels fresh every week, which helps to hold interest.

ONLINE MARKETING MADE EASY WITH AMY PORTERFIELD
Like the above podcast, this weekly podcast hosted by Amy Portfield is on the longer side in comparison to Buffer’s The Science of Social Media, and is typically from 35 minutes to 1 hour, every week. Perfect to listen to during a commute, your work out, or making lunch or dinner.
Amy is an entrepreneur, social media expert and an author who shares her knowledge via her podcast as well as online courses. She covers a range of online marketing topics, from repurposing content (which is helpful for those low on resources), to how to get noticed online, and more.
While Amy has a lot of expertise and knowledge to offer, she’s honest. When talking about a topic that is not necessarily her strength, such as growing your local business with online marketing strategies, she’ll often invite other industry professionals to discuss the given topic. It gives listeners another perspective from someone with more expertise and experience.
Tip: Take a peek at the details for each podcast episode on your podcast app or Amy’s website for a quick sneak peek at what each podcast episode consists of. Think of it like a movie trailer, then listen to which episodes interest and apply to you and your business most.
